<><>HOT OFF THE PRESS<><>

Chris and Ed,

I drove up to your place in 1994 with my Father. I went over to your puppy pen and picked up my boy Bruno. He and I have been best buddies ever since. He is the son of CH Zale. Although, Bruno is a good size dog CH Zale was a tank. I just wanted to let you know Bruno is now 11 years old and is doing very well. From the day I drove off with him until now he has been sickness free. He just keeps going. No extra vet bills from this dog. He still moves very well. Hopefully, he's got a lot more left in him.

Thanks,
Mike DiCenso

Hi there Kristie,

Thank you for your compliments regarding my parenting ability. Owning such a magnificent and powerful dog takes effort. And, a sweet loyal companion is quite the pay off. This weekend, I am taking Bella to the vet to check her weight. I would be shocked if she doesn't weigh at least 70 pounds. Now, for some details:

  1. She is strong swimmer. The off-leash park has a big pond/lake. Within 3 days, she was swimming all around. Are Cane Corsos water dogs? Mine is :}

  2. Though she is friendly to people and other animals, she is already quite protective of our home. Her growl is deep and serious. We love it!

  3. At the off-leash park, this lady showed me how to get her to jump over and through things. How willing she is. She goes right through the barrel, jumps over everthing, and even weaves (slowly, but who cares about speed). Naturally, little chunks of hot dogs helps motivate her.

  4. Though I know every book says not to let dogs sleep on the bed, I can't help it. Sometimes she gets too warm and will sleep on her blanket on the floor at the foot of my bed. However, in the morning, she likes to jump up on the bed and cuddle for a little while by putting her head on my pillow. I've never had such an affectionate dog. Mornings are a sweeter now.

  5. Her training is going well. Though she is only 6 months old, she is in a class with mainly full grown German Shepherds. Most of them are 1 1/2 to 2 years old. The trainer said that she was advanced enough that I didn't have to go through his puppy class. (Thank goodness!) I had already had trained her to sit, down, and stay. We are trying out Schutzhund (spelling?). Right now, we meet twice a week. One session, we work on obedience and the second session, we work on protection. Since she is still such a puppy, her attention is usually more focused on other things. She amazes everyone in the obedience class - including me. What amazes all of us is that a puppy can handle all the different distractions so well. (I think keeping the radio on when you had her has helped tremendously) In the area where we train, there are dogs barking, people walking by, cars passing, etc. In the protection sessions, right now she bites on this canvas bag that the trainer shakes. Then, she has to let go. I like the trainer because he makes it fun and is encouraging. Before we started, I talked to him about the fact that I didn't want to make her mean. He said that the training is a "good time" for the dogs and that all dogs don't like it or want to do it. So, we are trying it to see if Bella likes it. So far, she seems to enjoy it. After the sessions, some of dogs will play with Bella. The training tires her out.

  6. By the way, Bella continues to love children. Please, tell Rachel thank you because I know it is because of the time that she spent with her. When Bella sees them or hears children, her tail starts wagging and sometimes she whimpers because she wants to go to them. Whenever the kids are willing, I let them pet her. Because she is so big, I usually make her lay down. She gets very excited.

  7. She knows lots of words. Her toys have different names and we can ask her to get certain toys by name. It's amazing! She also knows some people.

For instance, if I say "where is your Grandpa? or where is my mom?," she will go to whichever one I say. Smart or what!

I can't imagine my life without her. I waited a long time to get another dog and am so grateful that I found Bel Monte. Thank you for matching me with her. Are you this good matching people? If so, set me up with a nice guy :}

Well, it's time for our evening walk.
So happy that you stay in touch,
Leslie

"Hello I just wanted to give you an update on buddy. He is now two years old and knows 40 command words. He is 130 pounds and very friendly towards other dogs, people, and children. He is very obedient and listens very well. I get compliments from everyone that I meet. When I walk him down the street cars actually pull over just to see Buddy up close and ask me questions about him. I even had an 18 wheeler follow me off a highway and down a side street just so I would pull over, and he could see buddy up close.

Buddy has always been at the top of his classes in basic and advanced obedience classes. He is now starting PSA which is a protection sport and I am very confident that he will be titled in this sport very soon. Just wanted to say thanks for breeding a great dog and a true friend and family protector."

Dear Kristie,

I just wanted to tell you again how much we love Gabriella. She is a wonderful, special part of our family. She plays with my daughter every day and is going to be a terrific guard dog! I just wanted you to see the smile on my daughter's face and to say thank you again for breeding such a fantastic dog. (Please pass this message on to your friend, Steve, I think he would like to know how happy she's made us).
Many Thanks,

Stacey

Hi Kristie,

Just thought I'd send you an update on Gabriella. She is really a fantastic dog. She is starting to trim up a bit and her temperment can't be beat. I take her everywhere I can and people just love her. It used to be that I would take her places and no one would comment on her at all, so the recent attention she has been getting at these same places is somewhat baffling to me. To me, she has always been gorgeous. Last week a man walked up and asked me if he could take her picture. He said she reminded him of a Bengal Tiger (don't ask me why). All the people in the store kept coming by us and asking if they could pet her and wanted to know more about her. It's been that way these last few weeks. Even my husband (recently got married) is coveting her temperment! He has been involved with helping to train Malinois for protection training and said her temperment is so rock steady, she would be perfect for it.

Anyway, wanted to let you know we will be entering her in a show in Georgia this October to get the Judge's opinion of her. I'm not concerned either way, but I think she will love it and I'll love seeing the other Corsos. I correspond with Ewa Winn several times a week and she is the greatest! (She is the owner of Roma that you and Ed bred - hope she does well at the Nationals). Here's a recent photo of Gabriella with my daughter. As you can see, this is not a picture where you can see a whole lot of Gabriella, just the important parts, the smiles on both of their faces! Aren't they cute?

Hi Kristie and Ed,

I just wanted to keep you updated on our Bacchus. He is my best bud. He gets very depressed when he can't come along for a ride. I take him with me to pick the boys up from school and various errands that are quick now that the weather's cool. I got a dog ramp from www.dogramp.com of course, and it's great! He runs right up it into the back of our SUV and off we go. We also had a doggy door installed that lets out through the side of the house so he can access the backyard. He loves it.

I have to tell you I've never felt safer than I have with Bacchus in the house. The other day I was doing the pooper scooping in the back and I hear Bacchus around the side barking "seriously". I went around and there was the PG&E guy (gas & electric meter reader) at the second gate. I don't need to tell you he was not going to venture any farther! Bacchus is good about backing down but he'll still give that throaty growl as they walk past. I love it. I know he loves us and we're well protected. Meanwhile the kids at school practically maul him when we go there and he's as gentle as a lamb, albeit a HUGE lamb. I have to take him back for a weigh-in but he was 106 a month ago. He's absolutely beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you again.

Also, we just finished level 2 of obedience training; that is he did Puppy K, level 1 and level 2 and aced them all! He's so easy to train and he love to please. Keep in touch.

Dear Ed and Kristie,

My name is Albert McCloy. I purchased a female pup from you back in early October. I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know what a fine girl she is. She is tough as nails, as I have a 18 month old male and they have played together from day one. She doesn't take any crap from him either! (He is very gentle with her though). I had her ears cropped and on her last visit she weighed in at 36 pounds. I just wanted to thank you for the pup and let you know that she is doing fine and is very beautiful. I have attached a picture of her and another pup which I had purchased from an Italian breeder. Your pup is 5 days younger and weighs 6 pounds more and is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches taller. Thanks again.

Albert McCloy

Kristie & Ed Hodas;

How are you doing. It has been about 18 months sense we purchased Attila from you. All I have to say is " OUTSTANDING". He is exactly what we asked you for in a puppy/dog. Attila is just ball of energy, and occasionally gets in to trouble. But there is not a mean bone in his body. Just wants to be loved on. We missed you at the last Cherry Blossom show. Attila was a little taller and thicker that the other Corso's. A lot of people stopped to rub on him and check him out. Who know maybe he's ready for the ring. But that would only be a part time gig for him. To many things to carry around the back yard and to many naps to take. It is amazing how strong he has become and getting stronger every day. Still has a little puppy in him, and gets excited whenever anyone comes over. But gentle as can be, for a 110/115 lb puppy. He has become our shadow, and will not go anywhere with out the older dog. They have become pals and spend most of the time playing tug of war. I hope to see you at the Cherry Blossom show this year. Love to get your feed back on how Attila is doing. Your opinion means a lot to us and maybe Attila....

Eric & Laura

Dear Sir, I'm an Italian judge of cane corso and other breeds. I didn't know that in your Country there was so pleasant dogs like yours, that I've seen in the picture of your web site. I only want to make my congratulations!
Best regards,
